This page will provide a brief overview of our Internal Medicine residency and our general philosophy toward education.

Closely affliated with NEOUCOM, the Canton Campus Internal Medicine Residency Program offers residents a broad range of patient care experiences in a comfortable and affordable, midwestern setting.

THE TWO-HOSPITAL ADVANTAGE

Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is taught in the 1200-bed setting of Aultman Hospital and Mercy Medical Center. These state-of-the-art facilities give residents exposure to the latest medical technologies and procedures. Residents develop their clinical skills working with a wide variety of pathologies, more varied than the diseases commonly seen in large urban settings. Our graduates, fully prepared for leadership roles in health care, advance easily to an active practice of their choice or to fellowship training.

AN EXCELLENT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT - The academic experience includes a longitudinal core curriculum, enthusiastic and engaged faculty mentors, and a third-year Board Review course.

A FULLY-SUPPORTED RESEARCH PROGRAM

Research projects are supported by a specially designated program with its own director, facilities, and funding. All residents are encouraged to write a scientific paper or present an abstract during the course of their residency based on a literature review or clinical research. Residents and faculty have presented their work annually and have won awards at the local, state, and national levels in both medicine and its subspecialties. Residents and faculty have presented at many different national meetings including the National Amercian College of Physicians, The American College of Gastroenterology, The American Society of Hematolgy, The Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity, and The American Geriatrics Society.
